Why This Is the Mower I Put on My Front Lawn

My front lawn is not where I want to experiment with a mediocre cut. It is the part of the property seen by neighbors, delivery drivers and everybody passing by, so the mower I choose there has to leave the grass looking right.

The Lymow One Plus earns that job because of the way it actually cuts. Instead of the small razor-style blades found on many robot mowers, it uses real blades that can be sharpened. The airflow helps lift the grass before cutting, and I can side discharge or mulch depending on how I want to mow. The resulting cut quality is one of the strongest reasons I keep using it.

Then there is the speed. The Lymow is fast. Even compared with other quick robot mowers I have tested, its mowing speed stands out. That matters when I want to get a large, visible lawn finished instead of watching a robot crawl across it all day.

My Garage-to-Driveway Setup

One thing I especially like is that I do not have to permanently store the Lymow outside. I keep it in my garage. When I am ready to mow, I place the charging station in the driveway and use tape markings so I can put the base back in the same location. Then I manually drive the mower to the station and send it out.

That routine gives me the benefit of keeping the machine protected in the garage while still being able to deploy it quickly when I want the front lawn mowed.

Errors: Annoying, but Not the Whole Story

I do not want to minimize the error messages. The Lymow has produced more of them for me than any other robot mower I have tested. The difference is that the errors I have personally seen have generally been understandable, recoverable and relatively easy to clear.

I have also seen public owner reports involving more serious incidents, including machines going over ledges, striking objects or damaging the camera area. I can only speak for my own machines: I have not personally experienced those types of failures.

Lymow's responsiveness is an important part of my overall opinion. The company has been very willing to listen to owners, work through problems and update the mower. That does not make the errors disappear, but it absolutely matters when evaluating a technology product that is still evolving.

The Heat Issue I Experienced

The thermal issue is not theoretical for me. During one mowing session, I walked near the mower and heard the blades shut off while the mower itself kept driving. It continued down the row and left an uncut strip behind.

Afterward, Lymow provided me with the 3D-printing files for a cooling-fin kit. A friend printed the parts for me, and I installed them on the motors without much trouble. In my limited mowing since installing the cooling fins, I have not had another heat-related shutdown.

I Have Not Chased Every Owner Modification

I know owners are experimenting with different ways to manage heat, including reflective material over the mowing deck, drilling ventilation holes and adjusting track tension. Those are not modifications I have made to my machines.

What I Have Seen Beyond My Own Mower

One of my neighbors was impressed enough by my Lymow that he bought a One Plus himself. He has had a few errors too, but nothing we have not been able to work through or get resolved with Lymow support. He continues to really enjoy the mower.

I also still have an original Lymow in use on a neighboring lawn, and it continues to handle that job well. Seeing more than one machine operate over time gives me more confidence than judging the entire platform from a single mower.

Who I Think the Lymow One Plus Is For

I would look seriously at the One Plus if cut quality and speed are at the top of your list, especially if you like the idea of a robot mower that behaves more like a conventional mower in the way it handles the grass.

I would think harder about it if you want a robot that behaves like an appliance you never have to troubleshoot. The Lymow has earned my trust, but it has also asked more of me as an owner than some of the smoother, less complicated machines I test.

That tradeoff is why my opinion may sound contradictory: it is simultaneously one of the robot mowers that gives me the most errors and the robot mower I depend on most for the lawn I care the most about visually. For me, the cutting performance is that good.
